Description

Platted between 1836 and 1871, Chatham Arch was founded as a working class neighborhood, whose residents worked at the nearby railroad depot and the shops and light industrial concerns that grew up around the Citizens Avenue Railroad. The Real Silk Hosiery Company opened the first of seven buildings in the area in 1922.
