Description

This Steel Workers union hall is the current site of the Central Indiana Labor Council meetings. In 1942, the Steel Workers Organizing Committee (SWOC) became the United Steelworkers of America (USWA), which helped workers organize in several Indianapolis plants. USWA Local 1150 was established that year at the Link-Belt plant on the west side, succeeding a local of the Amalgamated Association of Iron, Steel, and Tin Workers.
