| Printers from fourteen cities, including Indianapolis, met in Cincinnati in 1852 and organized the National Typographical Union. The Indianapolis local became Local Union #1 after winning a random drawing of those present. In 1888, the ITU moved its national headquarters to Indianapolis from New York City. In January 1925, the union bought the Van Camp Mansion at 2820 North Meridian to be their national headquarters. | ||||
